We are delighted to announce that the Innovative Conservatoire network (ICON) will be represented at Guildhall School of Music & Drama’s 5th international Reflective Conservatoire Conference (RCC) ‘Artists as Citizens’, in February 2018!
Directed by Prof Helena Gaunt (Chair of ICON), RCC brings together leading performers, teachers and researchers from all over the world to address the key issues in Higher Education within music and drama, explored through a series of performances, practical workshops, keynote speeches, curated sessions, seminars and round-table discussions.
On Thursday, 22 February, ICON will be explored at the conference through a practical workshop and presentation on “The Musician in Society” by ICON Creative Directors Dr Christina Guillaumier (Royal College of Music) and Dr Falk Hübner (HKU University of the Arts Utrecht). Earlier in the day, ICON Creative Director Prof Gemma Carey (Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University) will will contribute to the parallel session “Transformative curriculum design” with her paper on “Building capacity in students as artistic citizens through innovative pedagogy and curriculum design”.
The conference will take place in London at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Barbican Centre from Tuesday 20 February to Friday 23 February 2018.
