Dr Eija Järvelä, soprano, studied at the Sibelius Academy where she is now teacher in Vocal Arts and Vocal Pedagogy. She completed her studies in Vienna and in London (Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Opera Department). Her artistic DMus examined the interpretational means of a singer conveying his intention to the audience – both in the concert situation and on the opera stage. Eija has been performing, teaching and lecturing widely in Finland and abroad, and she has served on numerous national and international committees and administrative tasks. The interest in pedagogical research has led her into collaborative work and development projects with several teachers representing various instruments and aspects of teaching.
