Erja Joukamo-Ampuja graduated from Sibelius Academy’s Master’s program in 1987. She completed her licentiate degree at the Sibelius Academy in 2010, researching experience of students and teachers on the Academy’s “Creative Musicianship Skills” programme. She played with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1984 to 2001 and is now Assistant Professor of Horn, Pedagogy and Art Education at the Sibelius Academy. Since 2001, she has been performing, giving masterclasses and lectures in Scandinavia, Europe, Australia and the USA. Erja Joukamo-Ampuja specialises in “Mental training as a help in performing”, “Creative approaches to teaching and improvising” and “How to practise”, all of which are lectures she has prepared together with medical doctors.
