Enno Voorhorst

Royal Conservatoire, The Hague

Enno Voorhorst was born in 1962 in The Hague and grew up in a family of musicians. At an early age he started playing violin and combined this later with playing the guitar. He was taught by Hein Sanderink, Hubert Kappel and David Russell. In 1987 he won first prize at the 7th guitar competition at Hof, Germany. Some more prizes followed like the Dutch Guitar Prize in 1992 in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and, in the same year, first price at the Seto-Ohashi competition in Japan. In the meantime he was being invited all over the world and toured through South America, Europe and Asia. Enno Voorhorst recorded several CD’s with music by Bach, Ponce and two volumes by Barrios. In 2005 Voorhorst formed the ‘Duo Macondo’ with the Russian-Mexican viola player Mikhail Zemtsov and together they gave numerous concerts. Enno Voorhorst teaches at The Hague Royal Conservatoire in the Netherlands.
