Hayley Russell

Biography

After graduating from Durham University in English Literature, Hayley gained an MA at the University of Leeds in Art Gallery and Museum Studies where she chose to focus her research on the value of arts and heritage in education and outreach programmes. After leaving university, she worked at Harrogate International Festivals as Festivals and Communities Co-ordinator running the Education programme and assisting with the literary and music festivals. Upon moving to London, she joined the Collections Trust before progressing to the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) where she worked as Education Projects Manager with responsibility for: managing research and student funding schemes; leading the development of the RIBA Education Review to ensure professional skills became embedded into the academic framework of new models for architectural education; and overseeing the RIBA’s involvement in education policy, including co-ordinating the RIBA’s response to the Higher Education Green Paper. Last year, she completed the Engage Extend Leadership Programme, a professional development programme specifically aimed at those working in learning and education roles in the arts.
