Margit Rahkonen (DMus), studied piano in Sibelius Academy, Finland as well as at the New England Conservatory, BM, Juilliard School, MM and Conservatory Rimsky-Korsakov/Leningrad. The subject of her artistic doctorate in 1994 was the music of Franz Liszt. She has performed widely as a solo and chamber music pianist both at home and abroad. Rahkonen currently works as a lecturer at the Sibelius Academy where her job includes, among other things, teaching piano, conducting seminars for the doctoral students and developing the artistic doctoral study program. Her particular research interest is the history of musical performance of 19th century Finland, but many other traits and phenomena in the training of musicians and in musical life generally fascinate her as well.
