Mary Sayre

Biography

Mary Sayre was born in New York and grew up in Germany. She studied harpsichord with Glen Wilson and Siebe Henstra in Utrecht, musicology in Munich and choir conducting in Tilburg. Specializing in Spanish and Neapolitan music from the 16th and 17th centuries, Mary has been performing throughout Europe with ensembles like Compagnia Vocale (singer: Johannette Zomer) and Clarincanto (cd “Spanish Songs of Love and War” issued in 2001). Presently Mary is a lecturer of harpsichord, basso continuo, harpsichord methodology and improvisation at the HKU University of the Arts, Utrecht Conservatoire, where she is also a research coach and mentor.
