Tuulia Tuovinen is a doctoral student at Sibelius Academy, the University of the Arts, in Helsinki, Finland. Tuulia’s research interests are informal and formal instrumental learning environments and the possibilities of improvisation creating bridges between these different contexts of learning. Tuulia Tuovinen is a clarinet teacher at two of the largest music institutes in Finland, where she teaches young children and adolescents. She has developed pedagogical approaches for beginner clarinettists and group lessons and adapted the Colourstrings approach by the renowned violinist and violin pedagogue, Géza Szilvay, for the clarinet. Tuulia Tuovinen has studied in Tampere, Finland, and at the Royal Academy of Music in London where she completed her Master´s degree (MMus) in 2001.
